Launched in 1955, the Ingenieur was a civilian version of the Mark XI (11) pilot’s watch.

Equipped with a self-winding movement and a soft-iron inner case, the Ingenieur was extremely anti-magnetic, shockproof and water-resistant.

The Ingenieur SL was the second generation of the Ingenieur SL, which was introduced in 1981 and was designed to be a luxury sports watch.

The reason for this is that the watch was designed by Gerald Genta.

Gerald Genta designed the Nautilus for Patek Philippe, the Royal Oak for Audemars Piguet and the Yacht Club for the same company, and was very influential in subsequent watch design.

Today, vintage Nautilus and Royal Oak watches are very expensive and hard to come by, but the Ingenieur is still very much underappreciated.

The previous model, the original Ingenieur SL, was a so-called “big” watch that did not sell well, so this model was updated to a very thin 8.8 mm timepiece with a different movement.

This Ref.3305 was produced from 1981 to 1989, and there is also a model called “Jumbo” with a case size of 40 mm.

Despite its simple design without a crown guard, the lines of the case, lugs, and bracelet seem to flow and look very sophisticated.

The gray dial with a plaid pattern, gold indexes and pencil hands are very unusual.

At 34mm, the case size is a bit small, but I think it looks a bit bigger on the wrist.

There are very few luxury sports watches of this size, so in that sense, I think this is a valuable model.

The movement is Cal.2250 tuned by IWC based on ETA’s mechanism, and the baseplate is finished in gold.

Because it is protected by a soft-iron inner case, there is no worry about magnetic strikes, and you can use it without worrying about shocks in daily use.

The case and bracelet are polished.

The battery was replaced in Oct 2020.

It comes with 1-year warranty.
