-Description

The Datejust is one of Rolex's most iconic watches and was created in 1945.
It is widely known as a watch that is instantly recognisable from its distinctive appearance.

The "Datejust mechanism", which instantly changes the date at midnight, is considered to be one of Rolex's three greatest inventions, along with the "Oyster case" and the self-winding "Perpetual mechanism", and this Datejust is the culmination of all of them.

This reference 16018 is a rare variation with an 18K yellow gold case.
It is the successor to Ref 1601/8 and was manufactured from around 1977 to 1988.

It has an austere gold case that is almost 50 years old. Even though it is a solid gold watch, the vintage has the advantage of a more discreet shine than the current watches.

The biggest feature of this watch is the dial made of wood.
Dials that use natural materials exist on some Day-Date and Datejust watches, and those that use wood are collectively called "wood dials".

Of the several types of wood dials, this watch uses mahogany.
Mahogany is the collective name for three species of wood belonging to the mahogany genus of the Cendaceae family and is one of the three most precious woods in the world, along with teak and walnut.

The golden lustre and the striped pattern created by the shading of the grain are beautiful and give a sense of luxury and quality.
The grain of the wood varies from piece to piece, making it a truly one-of-a-kind timepiece.

There is a slight warp on the edge of the dial, but this is not noticeable when your wear it.
