-Description

Datejust, one of the most popular Rolex watch, was born in 1945.

It is widely known as a watch that anyone can recognize at a glance from its characteristic appearance.

The "Datejust mechanism," which instantly changes the date at midnight, along with the "Oyster case" and the self-winding "Perpetual mechanism," are considered to be the three major inventions of Rolex, and this Datejust is a model that can be said to be the culmination of all of them.

This Datejust with its measuring numerals and bi-directional rotating bezel, is officially called the Turn-O-Graph.

Reference 1625 is a second-generation Turn-O-Graph produced from around 1959 to 1977.

This watch has a stainless steel case and an 18K white gold bezel.

The name "Thunderbird" comes from the nickname "Thunderbirds" of the US Air Force's aerobatic team established in 1953.

A member of the Thunderbirds team uses this Turn-O-Graph, and as it spreads within the team, the military officially requests Rolex to supply it.

Using that relationship, Rolex launched a special model for the American market with an 18K gold-cased Turn-O-Graph with the Thunderbirds logo.

The watch began to be advertised as the "Thunderbird," and the name became widely known.

The dial is a silver dial with sunray finish and bar indexes.

The early model of Ref.1625 had variations such as dauphine hand and wedge index, but from the latter period, the design has been unified to bar hand and bar index.

The luminous paint on the dial is tritium, but the hands were replaced with luminova hands in later years.

The installed movement is automatic Cal.1570.

Among the Rolex movements, it is a masterpiece movement that balances precision and durability, and is the prototype of the current movement.

The bracelet comes with folded Jubilee Bracelet 6251H.

The bracelet was manufactured in the IV period of 1967 and matches the age of the watch.

The bracelet has 19 Links, so it can be worn up to approximately 18 cm around the wrist.

Please keep in mind that there is quite a bit of droop.

It has passed a 5 ATM water resistance test in the service, and is in very good condition for a vintage watch.

*Although it has passed the waterproof test, failure due to water ingress is not covered by the warranty.
